What is an Energy Audit

A home energy audit is often the first step in making your home more efficient and used to identify cost effective ways to improve the comfort, health and safety of one's home.

An audit can help you assess how much energy your home uses and evaluate what measures you can take to improve the overall energy efficiency.

A complete analysis with a detailed written report will help qualify the home and its owner for a combination of energy efficiency tax incentives from the government, financing incentives from lenders and rebates from the owner’s utility company.

Abel Greenhouse Company will examine all building components energy efficiency factors including; Mechanical systems including heating, air conditioning and hot water delivery systems Test the ducts for air leakage for the heating cooling systems. Test for the amount of air leakage of the home. Evaluate lighting and appliances. 

 

Inspection Procedures:

  1. Before proceeding with the inspection and energy audit an initial meeting will be held to discuss your expectations and address any concerns you may have. For proper modeling of your current energy usage we must have copies of current and last year’s utility billings. If you do not have these we have an “Authorization Form” that can be filled out and submitted to your utility company to obtain these records.  
  1. Determine the type of inspection you would like performed and sign work authorization contract.
  1. Schedule and perform the inspection.
  1. Delivery of the Energy Savings Analysis Report within 3 days of the inspection.
  1. Answer any questions you may have.
